RESTON, Va., Sept. 24, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) - Nextel Communications Inc. (NASD:NXTL) today announced a partnership with Corrigo, Inc., a leader in mobile service management solutions.
Nextel will offer and deploy Corrigo's real-time work order and dispatch management application, CorrigoConnectTM, designed to improve productivity and customer service for small- and mid-sized field service organizations providing installation, maintenance and repair services.
CorrigoConnect leverages Nextel's nationwide, packet data network, allowing dispatchers to create and dispatch electronic work orders to their field staff, track work order status and progress in real time, and make changes on demand using Nextel's wireless handsets. With CorrigoConnect, field technicians can quickly access critical job-related information at their fingertips and can pick up, close and update work orders.
Additionally, the technicians can receive alerts of new and changed work orders and access task-related information via the Corrigo KnowledgeBaseTM, the proprietary database that sits at the core of Corrigo's applications, from their Nextel Internet-ready phones.
CorrigoConnect users can also take advantage of the full range of Nextel four-in-one services, including Nextel Direct Connect®, a digital two-way radio feature that supports fast, effective communications among users in the same fleet. Other Nextel services include digital cellular, text and numeric messaging, and Wireless Web access with two-way messaging.
"CorrigoConnect provides companies a cost-effective, collaborative solution that improves mobile service processes," said Blair Kutrow, vice president, product management at Nextel. "By utilizing Nextel's wireless network, CorrigoConnect's database of troubleshooting information, tool requirements, task procedures and asset information are available for the field on a 24-hour, 7-day basis. This innovative business solution fits well with Nextel's strategy of providing customers with cost-effective solutions that address the specific needs of vertical markets."
Nextel provides an Internet Protocol standards-based packet data network that is tightly integrated with Nextel's voice network and available nationwide. Nextel's all-digital, integrated wireless network offers an "always on" capability for data communications regardless of a user's location as long as the phone is turned on and in a Nextel coverage area.
Nextel's robust infrastructure provides continuous and reliable service.
"In Nextel, we found a partner with a successful track record in delivering high-value, wireless data solutions to the business community," said Rick Michaux, president of Corrigo. "Nextel provides a reliable, nationwide network to support the CorrigoConnect field workforce and provides an excellent channel through which we can introduce our CorrigoConnect field workforce solution quickly and effectively to those companies who need it most. And with the addition of CorrigoConnect to its portfolio of business solutions, Nextel gains a robust, time-tested productivity and customer service application to offer its data customers."
